Academics

Are the lessons conducted online?

The lessons will be delivered as blended learning, where students learn in a physical group setting with live e-lecturers given by world-class lecturers as well as local tutor to support on-site. Learn more about our learning methods under Learning Model.

Who is delivering the curriculum?

The courses are conducted by our Faculty partner, Lithan, a leading education provider for digital competencies in Asia, with the team of world class lecturers who are not only highly credible and qualified, but also are subject matter experts with industry expertise. How are the courses assessed?

Every course will have formative and summative assessments which contribute to a project where students are assessed based on their competencies demonstrated in project report and project presentation. For apprenticeship grading, please check below.

What is the Industry immersion program?

The Industry immersion program is a core component of our course curriculum, aimed at providing students industry exposure. Students will engage with the latest digital industry advancements through field trips to innovation centres, accelerators & think-tanks.

Does the program provide soft skill courses?

DWA sees significant importance in equipping our students with important soft-skills to not only excel in career, but also in their life. Our curriculum includes courses focusing on soft-skills. In addition, we have put together a Life Competency Program diving into values, habits, mindsets, and important soft-skills such as communication, leadership, self-development, and more.

Campus life

Where is the school campus located at?

The “UTMSpace City Centre Campus” is located at the heart of KL, next to Ampang Park LRT station, opposite Intermark, and 5-10 mins walk to KLCC.

What are the facilities provided?

We provide everything a student needs – classrooms, study spaces, canteen, with plenty of cafes/restaurants and activities within 10 mins walk. On top of that, students will have access to UTMSPACE/UTM libraries and other facilities.

Does DWA provide accommodation services?

We have specially set-up comfortable and conducive student residences for our students. More information can be found on Student Life. Alternatively students may search for their own preferred accommodation.

Financial

How does the tuition fee payments work?
Tuition fee can be paid before the commencement of each semester. Alternatively, students may pay for the full year’s tuition fees with a 3% discount.
Does DWA offer any scholarships?

We offer a limited number of full scholarships and partial scholarships based on financial needs, academic performance, and personal excellence. For eligibility and more information, refer to Apply Now.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

You may apply by filling in the scholarships application form. Refer to Apply Now.

Does DWA offer any study loans?

We do not provide any loans, however, students with household income <RM8,000 are eligible to apply for the Deferred Payment Plan to study first, pay later. Students may defer a sum of RM5,000 program fees from first semester to second year of study. More information will be provided after you receive an offer for UTMSPACE IPDP.

Installment Plan

Can I pay my fees by installment payment?
Fee payments are payable on semester basis and it is to be made two weeks before commencement of each semester. Installment arrangement for fee payment can be arranged via individual application by writing to admissions.ipdp.utmspace@gmail.com
Do I need to provide any documents to apply for installment payment arrangement?
Yes. Please provide and attach the following supporting documents in addition to any other documents that can support your application:
1. Latest 3 months’ bank statement as well as 3 months corresponding salary slips.
2. Income tax Form B
3. Any other documentation to support application which indicates difficulties to pay program fees.
Who is entitled for this installment plan?
This installment plan is only available to full-time Malaysian students successfully registered in UTMSPACE IPDP Pre-U and Bachelor’s Degree programs who are experiencing temporary financial difficulties.
Does the installment payment arrangement require a guarantor?
Yes, the application for this installment payment arrangement requires one guarantor. The guarantor should be a family member or a guardian who is a Malaysian citizen, below the age of 60, never been blacklisted by any financial institution or declared as a bankrupt.

Application

I am still unsure which program I am the most suitable for. What can I do?

You may contact our Learning Advisors for more information regarding the courses and career paths to better inform your decision making.

I have no prior experience in digital skills such as programming or marketing. Can I still apply for these courses?

Yes. Our program does not require prior knowledge as long as you fulfill the entry requirement.

What are the entry requirements for my qualifications?

Please refer to the E-Brochures of your interested program for the list of accepted qualifications and the corresponding entry requirements.

My qualification is not listed in the e-Brochure. Can I still apply to the program?

We accept any equivalent qualification not limited to those listed in the e-Brochure. Do check with our Learning Advisors for inquire about your particular qualification.

What are the English requirements?

As the programs are conducted in English, students must have a minimum English level of Grade C in SPM, or MUET Band 1 or equivalent.

For Non-Malaysian candidates, prior to enrolling for the program, the applicants may sit for an English proficiency test conducted by the UTMSPACE’s Language Centre and obtain a PASS. In addition, students can also use the TOEFL (500) and IELTS (Band 5) results as a condition of admission to the programme.

If you do not meet the English requirements, UTMSPACE runs structured English programs for non-Malaysian students.

Can I apply as an international student?

Not at the moment. Applications will tentatively be open to international students from June 2021 intake onwards.

Academics

With a Professional International Pre-U Program in Digital Business, can I go into Software Engineering or Digital Systems?

You may progress onto the Advanced Professional Graduate Program in Digital Business, but not Software Engineering or Digital Systems.

With an International Professional only for Pre-U in IT, which Advanced Professional Graduate Program can I go into?

You may progress onto any of the three Advanced Professional Graduate Programs — Digital Business, Software Engineering, or Digital Systems. For the Course Pathway, refer to the E-Brochure.

Where can I find the academic calendar?

You will be informed of the academic calendar during orientation.

Financials

What are the fees of the program?

The fees will be RM12,900 for domestic students and USD3,900 for international students.

What type of certifications will I receive upon graduation?
You will receive a UTM / UTMSPACE graduation certificate for Professional Pre-U Program. For a sample certificate awarded by Pearson, see here.
Is this program MQA certified?

Our program is structured as a Professional, industry certification-ready program that is fully accredited and awarded by UTMSPACE, the private arm of UTM. The program is undergoing the process to obtain a second layer of accreditation by MQA in the next few months.  For more details, you may contact our Learning Advisor.

Academics

How does 1+3 program structure work?

Our Advanced Professional Graduate Program is a 4-year programme consisting of 1-year intensive class-learning and 3-years paid work-based learning. You will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills in the first year of study. In the second to fourth year of study, you will hone your digital expertise & soft-skills through work experience and gain deep digital industry insights.

Can I pursue a Master’s level study after this Advanced Professional Graduate Program?

Yes, there will be a direct course pathway into Professional Digital Master’s Programs which will begin in late 2021 or early 2022. Alternatively, you have the option of over a hundred international universities, such as in the UK or Australia.

With an Advanced Professional Graduate Certificate in Digital Business, which Master’s degree can I go into?

You will be able to pursue a higher level of Master’s in Digital Business. You may refer to the Course Pathway here.

With an Advanced Professional Graduate Certificate in Software Engineering, which Master’s degree can I go into?

You will be able to pursue a higher level of Master’s in Software Engineering, or Digital Business. You may refer to the Course Pathway here.

With an Advanced Professional Graduate Certificate in Digital Systems, which Master’s degree can I go into?

Apprenticeship

Is apprenticeship compulsory for this program?

Yes. The apprenticeship is a core component of our competency-based program as we believe that the best way to master digital competencies is to get exposure through real work experience.

How does the apprenticeship work? Guaranteed allowance of RM22,400.

In the second, third, and fourth year, students will be attached to one of our corporate partners and work as a full-time employee, while taking part-time lessons (7-10 hours per week). Apprenticeship placement for our students is guaranteed. You may refer to the Example Apprenticeship Companies here.

Do students get paid during apprenticeship?

Yes. The apprenticeship will be a paid employment. At the same time, we will be providing a guaranteed allowance of RM22,400 by the end of your degree. This means that should any students’ income in the three years fall under RM22,400, DWA will provide an income subsidy (top-up).

How can I apply for apprenticeship?

DWA provides a guaranteed apprenticeship placement for all students. At the end of first year, students will be invited to interview with our internal network of industry partners and go through interview selection to be placed. You may refer to the Example Apprenticeship Companies here.

Do I have lessons during apprenticeship?

Yes. Students will undertake around 7-10 hours of lessons every week, usually arranged on one weekday evening and one day of the weekend.

How will the apprenticeship be assessed as work-based learning?

70% of the grades will be accounted by their completion of apprenticeship; whereas the remaining 30% is assessed through the Apprenticeship Review where students prepare Apprenticeship Report and Presentation to evaluate their learning

Financials

What are the fees of the program?

The fees will be RM59,900 for domestic students and USD19,900 for international students. The fees payable will be 40% for the first year and 20% for subsequent years.

Awards

What type of certifications will I receive upon graduation?

Our Advanced Professional Graduate Program is accredited by UTMSpace. Upon graduation, you will receive Professional Graduate certificate from UTMSpace as well as optional professional industry certification that you are eligible to sit for.

What are the optional professional certifications in the program?

As our programs are based off industry-certifications, students will be ready to sit for relevant industry certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, SAP, PMI etc.

Is this program MQA certified?

Our program is structured as a professional, industry certification-ready program that is fully accredited and awarded by UTMSPACE, the arm of UTM specialising in Professional education. We are currently in the process of obtaining a second layer of accreditation from MQA. For more details on the recognition of the Professional Programs, you may contact our Learning Advisor.
